Here is a selection from my third book the Lost War Hero in the Marrissa Tomas series...
"I'll be with you in a minute sir."
Mr. Bank's starred at the stranger for a moment and then, hurried himself to the back room where the phone was ringing.
"Hello? Oh hi Mrs. Periwinkle yeah I can do that...."
The man didn't look familiar to either Jenny or Marrissa. He hat a black on, like a business hat, and a black suit on.
"I wonder where he came from?"
"Hello girls. Having a nice day?"
Marrissa looked at the man, he looked like he was about in his sixties, if he was any older, he hid it well.
But, she wasn't the one who answered. Jenny did.
"We're fine. Beg our pardon sir, but what... where are you from?"
"JENNY! That is too personal!" Marrissa wanted to yell at her friend, but the man was laughing hearty and answered.
"I'm from New York City. Ever been there?"
"No, but I've been to Maine."
"Well, that is pretty close to my home. What about you?"
"Me? Oh no, the only place I've ever been outside of Colorado... really even my town is Minnesota to visit my cousins."
"Ah, what are your names?"
Marrissa wasn't sure if she should answer it or not. She did.
"I'm Marrissa and this is Jenny."
"Well, I'm Mr. Greensworth. I'm glad to see that you people here are friendly."
Jenny smiled. She was always glad when people were happy with the small town. And, it's people.
"We're glad to be happy."
Mr. Greensworth laughed and laughed. Marrissa had a chuckle too.
"Glad to be happy, hm Jenny I'm thinkin' your vocab needs to be extended."
Mr. Banks came back in and started to make the banana splits for the girls. Not even glancing at the man called Mr. Greensworth.
"So, how are your folks Jenny?"
"There great. Daddy just left for a trip for work and will be comin' home in 'bout a week."
"Well that's good to hear. Where he go?"
"Um, I think it was Florida again. Company was started there. The head quarters are down there too."
"Good, what 'bout you Marrissa? How's your dad?"
"He's good. Keepin' busy with all our quarter horses."
"He always did love them quarter quarter horses didn't he?"
"Yup."
He handed them their order.
"Thanks."
"Yeah, thanks."
The two took bites of their order and smiled. They always loved coming here. The ice cream just seemed different than the stuff at the general store ice cream counter stuff. Neither of them knew why.

It is part of the first chapter, I don't have much written of this one yet. But I'd like it if you told me if you liked it or not. Thanks!
